Fraser Coast Climate
Situated some 500 kilometres south of the Tropic of Capricorn, Hervey Bay has a hot and humid climate. While the summer maximum average temperature is only 30 degrees C, the summer months have some extremely hot days. Average temperatures of around 15 degrees C are usual in winter, which is mild, usually dry, and very pleasant. Most winter days are sunny and there is rarely any frost.

Torquay Road in Pialba hosts the bulk of Hervey Bay's major shops, plus banks and a post office. Pialba Place Shopping Centre houses numerous speciality shops. Both sides of Boat Harbour Drive are lined with stores and shops. There is also the Bay Central Shopping Centre containing a Franklin supermarket, Target, as well as several smaller speciality shops. The Esplanade is also lined with shops in between all the cafés, restaurants and accommodations. There are markets en masse in the Fraser Coast region. The most famous is the Maryborough Heritage Market that takes place every Thursday between 8am-2pm, sending the charming little town back in time. |
