Albury
At the twin cities of Albury–Wodonga, straddling the border of NSW and Victoria, you’ll find a lively arts culture, heritage buildings, gardens and recreational facilities.
The Murray River, passing through these towns, is lined with 600-year-old river gums and is best explored on a paddle-boat cruise or luxury houseboat.
The region around Albury is known for its produce so stock your picnic basket at the regular Hume Murray Food Bowl farmers markets or dine in style at one of the Murray’s famous restaurants. You can even try your hand at fishing for the region’s famous Murray Cod.
Relive Australia’s colonial past by visiting some of the historical homesteads and museums in the area. Albury is also a handy base for access to the outback as well as to the Snowy Mountains region.
